<p>Chilnualna Falls, pronounced "Chil-noo-al-na," is a steep hike featuring views of the falls and Wawona Dome. The waterfall is comprised of five large cascades sliding through and over large granite formations above the Wawona basin. Along the way, hikers will enjoy sweeping views of the Wawona area.<br /> <br /> The first cascade is visible a short but steep walk about 0.25 mi (0.4 km) from the trailhead and is a worthwhile destination itself.</p> <p><strong>Distance: </strong>8.2 miles (13 km) round-trip<br /> <strong>Elevation gain: </strong>2,400 ft (732 m) elevation gain<br /> <strong>Time estimate: </strong>5-7 hours</p> <h2>Tips & Seasonal Information</h2> <p>Chilnualna Falls flows year-round with peak flow typically around May. In spring and early summer, the trail is lined with many wildflowers such as Hartweg's iris, purple milkweed, mountain pride, harlequin lupine, and wood strawberry.<br /> <br /> Pets and bicycles are not allowed on hiking trails. A vault toilet is available at the trailhead parking area.</p>
