Arc Dome Wilderness

Arc Dome Wilderness is a 120,280-acre federally protected Wilderness Area in Nevada, managed by the Forest Service. The landscape is primitive backcountry open to non-motorized travel only—no roads, motors, or mechanized equipment are permitted. This is genuine wilderness: expect remote terrain, solitude, and the responsibility that comes with it.

Hiking and backpacking are the primary ways to experience the area. There are no maintained trails or developed infrastructure; navigation and self-sufficiency are essential. Water sources, weather exposure, and distance from trailheads define the challenge. Leave No Trace principles are not optional—they are the standard that protects this landscape for all visitors.

Access is by foot only, typically from trailheads on the perimeter. Summer and early fall offer the most reliable conditions, though weather can change quickly at elevation. Winter travel is possible but demands winter skills and preparation. Come ready to be self-reliant, navigate carefully, and camp with minimal impact.
