Allegheny Islands Wilderness

Allegheny Islands Wilderness is a 372-acre federally designated Wilderness Area in Pennsylvania, managed by the Forest Service. The area protects primitive backcountry where motorized travel, mechanized equipment, and road development are prohibited. This is a place for non-motorized recreation—hiking, backpacking, and backcountry camping in a wild setting where solitude and Leave No Trace principles are the foundation of the experience.

Access is on foot only. There are no facilities, roads, or maintained infrastructure within the wilderness boundary. Visitors must be self-sufficient and prepared for variable weather and rugged conditions. All waste must be packed out, fires may be restricted, and group size limits typically apply.
