Perote

Perote is a vanished community in Menominee County, Wisconsin, once situated in the town of Menominee about five miles south-southwest of White Lake. It was platted along a railroad line and took its name from John Baptist Perrote, a Menominee judge.

The settlement had faded enough that it appeared on USGS maps only as late as 1952, and today little to nothing marks the site on the ground. Visitors drawn to Wisconsin ghost towns will find this a minimal-trace destination — more a point of historical curiosity than a place with visible remains.
