About Parmalee

Parmalee was a brief settlement in Manatee County, Florida, that served as a stop along the East and West Coast Railway before fading into obscurity. Its moment in history was short-lived, and little physical evidence of the town survives today.

The site sits at what is now the junction of Betts Road and State Road 70. Visitors will find the surrounding land largely undeveloped or given over to agriculture — there are no preserved structures or formal historic markers to speak of. It is the kind of place that rewards those curious about Florida's early rail history, though the experience is more about landscape and context than tangible remains.
