About Oreton
Oreton is a ghost town sitting along State Route 160 in eastern Vinton Township, Vinton County, Ohio. It began as a small mining community but has long since been abandoned.
Visitors today find only scattered remnants: the crumbled ruins of an iron furnace, a handful of concrete foundations, and the brick safe that once belonged to Dave Ebert's company store. There is little else left standing, so expectations should be modest.
Access via State Route 160 is straightforward, and the site suits anyone with an interest in industrial history or ruin photography. A short visit is all the site realistically requires.
