Omemee

Omemee is an abandoned town in Bottineau County, North Dakota, with roots going back to its incorporation as a city in 1902. Its early identity was shaped by railroads — the town sat at the junction of the Soo Line Railroad and the Great Northern Railway, making it a notable hub during the early 1910s. That rail-driven activity eventually faded, and by 2003 the town had been fully abandoned.

Visitors today will find a quiet, largely empty site typical of North Dakota ghost towns. The surrounding landscape is flat and open, and the appeal is primarily historical curiosity and photography rather than developed recreation. Access is by road, and the area is most comfortably visited in the warmer months, as North Dakota winters can make rural roads hazardous and conditions inhospitable.
