Milton

Milton is a ghost town in Brown County, Illinois, a settlement that was platted on August 25, 1836, by Lewis Gay and William C. Ralls. The site was laid out along McKee's Creek, roughly five miles from the Illinois River, near the location of the old Johnson mill. Despite promotional efforts to sell town lots, the venture never took hold and the settlement ultimately failed.

Visitors today will find little more than a quiet rural landscape near McKee's Creek. There are no known standing structures or developed facilities associated with the original townsite, making this a destination suited mainly to those with a curiosity about early Illinois settlement history and a willingness to explore an unmarked, undeveloped location.
