Tucked into the mountains southeast of Northport in Stevens County, Washington, Leadpoint is a ghost town with roots in the mining boom of the 1890s. The discovery of high-grade lead in the area drew enough settlers to build a genuine community — at its peak, roughly 200 people called it home, supporting a hotel, a general store, a barbershop, and a handful of other businesses.

Over time the economic forces that created Leadpoint faded, and the town followed. Today it stands as a ghost town, a quiet remnant in the Washington mountains. Visitors drawn to historic mining settlements will find the setting itself — the surrounding mountain terrain — as much a draw as any surviving structures. Access is most practical from late spring through early fall, when mountain roads in this part of Stevens County are reliably passable. Winter months can bring hazardous conditions that make the area difficult or impossible to reach safely.
