About Kopp

Kopp was once a small rural community in Prince William County, Virginia, home to roughly 100 farming families and anchored by a country store, a school, a post office, and Bellehaven Baptist Church. It took shape in 1885 and functioned for decades as a quiet agricultural settlement before disappearing from the map entirely.

In 1942, the federal government absorbed the land into Marine Corps Base Quantico as part of a roughly 50,000-acre expansion. Residents were bought out in what locals came to remember by a particular name, and the community simply ceased to exist. Nothing of the original town remains accessible to the public today, as the site now falls within an active military installation.
