About Junta

Junta is a vanished settlement in Summers County, West Virginia, that once occupied a stretch of land along the New River, sitting west of Indian Mills. It appeared on maps as recently as 1924, but today nothing of the town survives above ground.

Visitors who make their way to the general area will find no ruins, structures, or markers — the site has been completely reclaimed. The setting along the New River remains the draw, offering scenic river corridor scenery even where the town once stood.
