About Hockerville
Hockerville is a ghost town in northern Ottawa County, Oklahoma, close to the Kansas border. At its peak it supported a population of more than 500 people, and the mining industry that drove that growth was substantial — at least 18 mines were operating in the area in 1918 alone.
Today Hockerville is largely gone. Visitors drawn to the site should expect a quiet rural landscape rather than preserved structures or formal amenities. It is the kind of place best suited to those interested in Oklahoma's industrial past and the communities that rose and faded with it.
