About Franklin
Franklin is a ghost town in east King County, Washington, situated near the Green River close to an area known as the Hanging Gardens, roughly a mile east of Black Diamond. Its origins lie in coal mining, which drove settlement of this part of the county.
Visitors today will find little more than the remnants of that industrial past set within a quiet natural landscape along the Green River corridor. The site rewards those interested in regional history and Pacific Northwest heritage.
