About East Krotz Springs

East Krotz Springs is an abandoned ghost town that once occupied the east bank of the Atchafalaya River in Pointe Coupee Parish's 1st Ward, roughly 12 miles west of Livonia. It sat at the mouth of Bayou Sherman, directly across the river from Krotz Springs, just south of a railroad bridge — a position documented on U.S. Geological Survey maps from 1948.

Today the site is fully abandoned. Visitors will find no standing structures or active community, only the natural riverbank setting where the town once stood. The location is best suited to those with an interest in Louisiana history and river geography, and photography of the Atchafalaya River corridor remains the most realistic draw.
