About Drift Desert

Tucked along the Colorado River in La Paz County, Arizona, Drift Desert began its life as a working ranch and steamboat landing before fading into abandonment. The site's dual role — serving riverboat traffic while also functioning as a ranch — reflects the layered way early communities took hold along the Colorado.

Today Drift Desert is a ghost town, and visitors should arrive expecting little more than an atmospheric riverside setting and whatever fragmentary remains time has left behind. No facilities, services, or maintained infrastructure exist here.
