Daniels

Tucked along the Patapsco River between Woodstock and Old Ellicott City, Daniels is a ghost town split across Baltimore and Howard counties in Maryland. Its most significant surviving feature is Daniels Mill, a property listed on the National Register of Historic Places, making the site a notable stop for anyone interested in Maryland's industrial and community heritage.

The community once supported a post office that ran from March 1943 through August 1971, and it served as the hometown of James N. Robey, who later became Howard County Executive and a Maryland State Senator. Today Daniels is a quiet, largely vanished settlement where the mill remnants and riverside setting define the experience more than any bustling infrastructure.

Visitors come mainly to see the historic mill site and soak in the atmosphere of a place that time has quietly reclaimed. The Patapsco River corridor provides scenic character, and the location is accessible enough for a day trip, though travelers should expect minimal amenities on-site.
