Crucero

Crucero is a ghost town in San Bernardino County, California, that once served as a railroad junction where the Union Pacific Railroad and the Tonopah and Tidewater Railroad crossed. The settlement was originally known as Epsom before being renamed in 1910, a nod to the Spanish word for crossing — a fitting choice given its role as a meeting point for two rail lines.

A post office operated here during two separate periods, from 1911 to 1917 and again from 1922 to 1943, suggesting the community maintained at least a modest population through the mid-twentieth century. When the Tonopah and Tidewater Railroad shut down, the reason for Crucero's existence disappeared with it, and the settlement was gradually abandoned.

Visitors today will find a remote, sparse site with little formal infrastructure.
