Cement

Cement is a ghost town in Solano County, California, now absorbed within the modern city limits of Fairfield. It began as a company town around the turn of the 20th century, founded and operated by the Pacific Portland Cement Company. The town grew quickly into a boomtown built around mining and manufacturing, producing Portland cement sold under the company's trademarked "Golden Gate" brand. Operations ceased in 1927, after which the site's structures and equipment were auctioned off.

Because the site is folded into an active urban area and its physical infrastructure was liquidated after closure, visitors should expect little in the way of dramatic ruins. It holds interest primarily as a piece of industrial history rather than a scenic destination, and is best suited for historically curious travelers passing through Fairfield.
