Cedar Creek

Cedar Creek is a ghost town in Box Elder County, Utah, with roots going back to the 1860s, when settlers established it as a farming community. At its modest peak, the town supported a school, an inn, and a store — the kind of small-scale infrastructure that kept a rural agricultural settlement functioning.

The town's fate was shaped by two forces: harsh weather that made sustained farming increasingly unviable, and the eventual routing of the interstate highway system through the area, which also passed through the nearby communities of Snowville and Park Valley. With agriculture no longer dependable, residents left and Cedar Creek was abandoned.

Visitors today will find little more than the open landscape of Box Elder County. This is a destination for those drawn to the quiet atmosphere of forgotten places — photography and sightseeing are the realistic draws. Access follows the highway corridor through the region, but come prepared for a sparse experience with minimal signage or standing remains.
