About Carpenter
Carpenter is an extinct coal mining town in Mesa County, Colorado, sitting at an elevation of 5,808 feet roughly twelve miles northeast of Grand Junction. The townsite is reached at the end of an extension to 27¼ Road, placing it well off the main travel corridors of the region.
Very little documented infrastructure or standing structure information is available for Carpenter today. Visitors drawn to ghost town exploration will find a remote rural setting typical of former coal mining communities in this part of Colorado, but should expect minimal visible remains and no formal facilities or services on site.
