About Carlyle

Carlyle is a ghost town in Wibaux County, Montana, sitting on ranch land just one to one and a half miles west of the North Dakota border. What was once an agricultural community has been absorbed into grazing land, and a small cemetery lies southeast of the old town site.

At its peak in the 1940s, Carlyle supported a population of 221 and was served by a Northern Pacific Railway branch running out of Beach, North Dakota. Today visitors will find little more than open ranchland, the remnants of that rural community, and the quiet cemetery that marks the town's former presence.
