About Canta Recio
Canta Recio was a native New Mexican community situated along the west bank of the Rio Grande in Socorro County, roughly 40 miles south of the town of Socorro and just south of Milligan Gulch. It has long since been abandoned and is today considered a ghost town.
Visitors will find a quiet, remote riverside setting with little infrastructure remaining. Given the sparse historical record, anyone drawn here should expect an understated experience centered on the landscape itself rather than dramatic ruins.
