Camey Spur

Camey Spur is a ghost town in southeastern Denton County, Texas, situated at what is today the intersection of State Highway 121 and West Spring Creek Parkway. The settlement traces its roots to around 1852 and took its name from Captain William McKamy, whose family donated land to support construction of the Frisco Spur, a branch of the St. Louis–San Francisco Railway. A post office operated under the Camey Spur name from 1913 through 1925, and the town should not be confused with Spur, Texas, a separate community elsewhere in the state.

Today nothing of the original townsite remains in a recognizable form. The location has been absorbed by modern suburban development along the Highway 121 corridor, and visitors will find a busy road intersection rather than any historic structures or markers. For history enthusiasts, the site is worth a brief stop to appreciate the layered past beneath an otherwise ordinary stretch of North Texas roadway.
