About Burke
Burke is a ghost town in Shoshone County, Idaho, founded in 1887. What began as a busy mining community built around silver, lead, and zinc extraction eventually emptied out as mines closed through the mid-twentieth century, leaving behind only remnants of its former activity.
Visitors today find a quiet, largely abandoned townsite. The setting reflects decades of decline, and anyone coming here should do so with modest expectations — this is a place for history-minded explorers drawn to faded industrial landscapes rather than developed attractions.
