About Bon Ami
Bon Ami is an abandoned ghost town situated in Beauregard Parish, Louisiana, roughly two miles south of the city of DeRidder. Nothing remains of an active community here today — the site is fully deserted, and its existence is primarily documented through historical cartography rather than any standing structures or infrastructure.
United States Geological Survey maps dated to 1947 captured the town's location, where the Kansas City Southern and Louisiana & Pacific railway lines ran parallel to one another. That railroad presence is among the few concrete details the historical record preserves about the place.
Visitors curious about Louisiana's vanished settlements may find the area worth a look, but should expect little on the ground. The coordinates place the site at a nondescript location in the parish, and there are no formal facilities, trails, or interpretive markers associated with it. Photography and quiet exploration of the surrounding landscape are the most realistic activities for anyone who makes the short drive from DeRidder.
