Boggy Depot is a ghost town and Oklahoma State Park in Atoka County with a notable past. Once a major trading hub along the Texas Road and the Butterfield Overland Mail route connecting Missouri to San Francisco, it ranked among the most significant communities in the Indian Territory. The arrival of the MKT Railroad after the Civil War proved fatal to its fortunes — the line bypassed Boggy Depot entirely, and the town steadily declined, eventually ceding its regional prominence to nearby Atoka.

Visitors today encounter a quiet state park preserving the site of this once-thriving community. The setting reflects the town's long fade rather than any dramatic ruins, making it a destination best suited to those drawn by history and the atmosphere of a place that time passed by. Access is straightforward, and the park is most pleasant during spring and fall when Oklahoma temperatures are mild.
