Bigler's Mill

Bigler's Mill is an extinct community in York County, Virginia, situated near Williamsburg along the York River. James Bigler founded the settlement in the spring of 1852 after acquiring roughly 2,400 acres of timberland from a tract called Rippon Hall. He erected a sawmill and gristmill, extended a long pier into the York River, and developed the surrounding land with homes, a store, and a church. The town's existence was cut short by events of the Peninsula Campaign during the Civil War era, leaving it among Virginia's many documented lost towns.

For visitors today, Bigler's Mill is a place of historical curiosity rather than developed recreation. No formal facilities are described, and the site is best approached as a quiet piece of regional heritage along the York River shoreline. Photography and sightseeing are the most realistic draws.
