Bannack

Bannack is a ghost town in Beaverhead County, Montana, sitting along Grasshopper Creek about 11 miles upstream from where the creek meets the Beaverhead River south of Dillon. Gold brought settlers here in 1862, and the town that sprang up became one of Montana's most significant early communities. Today it is protected as a National Historic Landmark and operated by the state as Bannack State Park.

Visitors arriving by standard passenger car will find a remarkably preserved collection of historic structures in an open, creek-side setting. Because the site is actively managed as a state park, access is straightforward and the remains are well maintained.
