About Archer

Archer was a short-lived mining camp located about 2 miles southeast of Tonopah in Nye County, Nevada. A gold discovery in the summer of 1904 drew prospectors to the site, though the camp never progressed beyond a collection of tents — no permanent structures or frame buildings were ever erected.

The find proved shallow. With no additional gold-bearing ledges turning up, the camp dissolved by fall of that same year, making its entire lifespan a matter of months. Today, nothing remains on the ground. Visitors will find no ruins, foundations, or artifacts to mark where the camp once stood.
