Alunite

Alunite is a ghost town in Piute County, Utah, sitting near the mouth of Cottonwood Canyon roughly 5 miles south of Marysvale. It grew out of the mining activity that took hold around 1915, becoming a small but consequential town during World War I before the community faded away by around 1930.

Visitors today will find a historic remnant settlement in a canyon-edge setting. Given its short lifespan and the decades since its abandonment, expect sparse physical remains rather than a well-preserved townsite. The location near Marysvale makes it a manageable side trip for those already exploring this part of central Utah.
