Alexander

Alexander is an unincorporated community in the southern part of Erath County in Central Texas, situated along Texas State Highway 6 and FM-914. Its origins trace to the 1870s, when a post office was established under the name Harper's Mill. The community took on its current identity in the 1880s after the Texas Central line — part of the historic Katy Railroad — was routed through the townsite on its way from the Waco area, prompting the name change to Alexander.

Today Alexander qualifies as a ghost town, and visitors should arrive with modest expectations. The setting is rural Central Texas roadside, and the site is accessible via the highway corridor. There are no developed visitor facilities, and the experience is best suited to those with an interest in Texas railroad history and small-town origins.
