Albert

Albert is a ghost town tucked into southeastern Gillespie County, Texas, sitting about 16 miles southeast of Fredericksburg and just a mile west of the Blanco County line. Known originally as Martinsburg, the settlement found a practical role as a stop along the Fredericksburg-to-Blanco stage route, placing it on a well-traveled corridor through the region. In 1967 the town gained renewed recognition when it was incorporated into the President's Ranch Trail.

Today Albert qualifies as a ghost town, so visitors should expect little in the way of active community. It is the kind of place that rewards those drawn to quiet roadside history and the atmosphere of a once-traveled route rather than developed amenities.
