About Adventure
Adventure is a ghost town in Ontonagon County, Michigan, with roots in the mining industry. Operations at the mine began in 1850, and the community that grew up around it supported a post office for about a decade, from 1851 to 1860. Once that postal service closed, the settlement faded from active use.
Today Adventure exists as a historic footnote on the landscape. Visitors should expect little in the way of visible remains — the sparse documentary record suggests a modest site rather than a well-preserved townscape. The surrounding Ontonagon County terrain offers a remote, wooded setting typical of Michigan's Upper Peninsula, which itself can be rewarding for those drawn to quiet, off-the-beaten-path exploration.
