Adobes

Adobes is a ghost town in Presidio County, Texas, sitting along the Rio Grande and Farm to Market Road 170. What began as a small farming community in the 1870s eventually grew into a modest agricultural operation, with cotton cultivation taking hold in 1914 and irrigated acreage reaching 750 acres by 1930. Today the settlement is abandoned, leaving behind the quiet riverside landscape as the main draw for curious visitors.

Access via FM 170 makes the site straightforward to reach by vehicle. Visitors should expect little in the way of formal infrastructure — this is a remote ghost town, not a developed park — but the setting along the Rio Grande offers opportunities for photography and a look at the remnants of an early Texas farming community.
