Addie Camp

Once a mining camp active from the early 1880s through the 1910s, Addie Camp sits in Pennington County, South Dakota, and went by several names over the years — Kennedyville, Addie Spur, and Canadaville among them. Its multiple identities hint at the transient, evolving nature of Black Hills mining settlements during that era.

Today Addie Camp is a ghost town, and visitors should arrive with modest expectations. Little documentation exists about what physical remains, if any, survive on the ground. The surrounding landscape and the sense of stepping onto a long-abandoned site are the real draws for history-minded explorers and photographers.
